Description

World Politics, as we see it now, has had a chequered history of continuous strifes, devastating wars, consequent peace treaties, Industrialisation and economic development, trade and commerce and of affluence and pauperism. World Politics provides an in-depth understanding of political institutions and processes around the world at the national, cross-national and International levels. Global politics names both the discipline that studies the political and economical patterns of the world and the field that is being studied. At the centre of that field are the different processes of political globalization in relation to questions of social power, Power is the capacity to direct the decisions and actions of others. Power derives from strength and will. Strength comes from the transformation of resources into capabilities. Will infuses objectives with resolve. Strategy marshals capabilities and brings them to bear with precision. Statecraft seeks through strategy to magnify the mass, relevance, impact, and irresistibility of power. It guides the ways the state deploys and applies its power abroad. These ways embrace the arts of war, espionage, and diplomacy. The practitioners of these three arts are the paladins of statecraft. The discipline studies. the relationships between cities, nation- states, shell-states, multinational. corporations, non-governmental organizations and international. organizations. Current areas of discussion include national and ethnic conflict regulation, democracy and the politics of national self-determination, globalization and its relationship to democracy, conflictand peace studies, comparative politics, political economy, and the international political economy of the environment. One Important area of global politics is contestation in the global political sphere over legitimacy. This book on world politics unravels many marvels of politics which we rarely realise and understand. This book is written is keeping mind of the needs of the students of political science and the budding politicians.
