Description

The book is a product of a Major Research Project granted by University Grants Commission (UGC). The research project has been conducted with the purpose of evolving an approach to the development strategy for enhancing the entrepreneurial propensity among the underprivileged social groups in the State of Odisha. The study was driven by the fact that a large chunk of population belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Religious Minority (Muslims and Christians) and Women etc have remained economically backward due to lack of adequate capital as well as necessary support to pursue entrepreneurial activity. Most of the enterprises run by them for livelihood happened to be at subsistence level and require urgent attention to achieve growth and development. Hence, it is important that for the state and country to achieve higher levels of economic growth and development, the economic status of these underprivileged groups of people must be raised to higher levels. It is with this idea that the book is aimed at analysing the entrepreneurial propensity of the hitherto denied social class due to the prevalence of rigid social stratification. This book should be useful for the those who operate as promoters, policy framers, social thinkers, practicing entrepreneurs and the students in the field of business and management.
