Description

Swachh Bharat is a comprehensive Value Addition Course (VAC) text developed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for University of Delhi students. Rooted in Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of cleanliness and civic responsibility, the book explores the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as a transformative Jan Andolan that reshaped India's approach to sanitation, waste management, and public hygiene. Through four lucid chapters, the book offers a balanced blend of theory, case studies, and hands-on activities. It examines the mission's rural and urban dimensions, traces the transition from ODF to ODF Plus models, and addresses operational, behavioural, and policy challenges. Real-world examples from across India such as Indore, Champaran, Ambikapur, and Nadia illustrate how community-driven efforts can catalyze lasting change. Designed as both an academic resource and a practical guide, Swachh Bharat book will encourage students to connect classroom learning with community engagement. It will inspire readers to view cleanliness not merely as a duty, but as a shared national responsibility and an essential step toward a sustainable future.
