Research methodology in English literature involves a systematic approach to investigating literary works, texts, and related cultural contexts. It encompasses various methods, from close textual analysis to broader historical and theoretical perspectives, to gain a deeper understanding of literature and its impact. Research Problem is identifying a specific area of inquiry within literature, such as a particular author, work, theme, or literary movement. Literature review examines existing scholarship on the chosen topic to understand previous research, identify gaps, and inform the current study. Theoretical frameworks utilize established literary theories (e.g., feminism, post-structuralism, postcolonialism) to analyze texts and guide interpretation.Data Collection includes Gathering primary sources (original literary works) and secondary sources (critical essays, scholarly articles, biographies). Method of Analysis employs close textual analysis, historical contextualization, comparative analysis, and other methods to interpret the chosen texts. Interpretation and Argumentation Developing a coherent interpretation of the literary work based on the analysis and presenting it in a well-structured argument. Documentation and Citation is properly citing all sources using established citation styles (e.g., MLA, Chicago) to maintain academic integrity. Textual Analysis involves close reading of a text, examining elements like language, structure, imagery, and themes to understand its meaning and significance. Historical Criticism explores the historical context of a literary work, examining social, political, and cultural influences on the text and its author. Comparative Literature analyzes literary works across different cultures, languages, or time periods to identify similarities, differences, and influences. Biographical Criticism examines the author's life and experiences to gain insights into their work. Theoretical Approaches utilizes various literary theories to analyze texts, such as feminist criticism, psychoanalytic criticism, or postcolonial criticism. This book introduces the methods and techniques of research in English Literature to M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. In India, literary research is still confined to the interpretation and evaluation creative writer. In England and America it covers a much wider range and includes such areas as editing of texts, determination of authenticity and chronology, interpretation of literary terms, history of ideas and biography.

She is having more than twelve years experience in teaching postgraduate students. She is the editor of The Literary Man the journal published from Delhi.
