Description

China and India have had an uncertain relationship all through the 20th century and up to the present day. During the anticolonial period, many Chinese and Indians were inspired by each other; Tagore, for instance, had a major influence in China. China is Pakistan's largest defence supplier. The most significant development in ChinaPakistan military cooperation occurred in 1992 when China supplied Pakistan with 34 shortrange ballistic M 11 missiles. Recent sales of conventional weapons to Pakistan include aircraft, JF17 production facilities, F22P frigates with helicopters, K8 jet trainers, T85 tanks, F7 aircraft, small arms, and ammunition. The relation of nuclear India with nuclear China differs fundamentally from the relation with nuclear Pakistan. It is, on the one hand, less hostile and free from the kind of tension that makes a PakistanIndia confrontation an ever present possibility. In July 2009 China and India concluded their th round of border talks with a widerge of agreements such as the instal on of a hot line between the Chine and Indian capitals, an agreement to celebrate 60 years of diplomitic ties next year, etc. As the book addresses this crucial issue quite deftly, it is hoped that it would prove to be a source of great information for the reader.
