Description

The impact of plant disease is far-reaching. Its effects are felt not only in the spheres of agriculture and horticulture, but also in human health and wellbeing. The challenges of population growth, climate change and global food security all increase the need to protect crops from disease and reduce the losses caused by plant pathogens. Principles of Plant Pathogens and Plant Pathology offers fundamental and advanced information that serves as an introduction to its readers about its scientific basis. This text discusses plant diseases, focusing on the pathogens (microorganisms like fungi, bacteria, viruses, and nematodes) that cause them and explores the interactions between plants and pathogens, disease diagnosis, and methods for managing or controlling plant diseases. This work is beneficial in filling the gaps and providing support to its readers. Primarily aimed to cater to the needs of UG and PG students of Agriculture and Botany this book provides comprehensive treatment of fundamental facts, terminology and general aspects of Plant Pathology.
